St. George’s University (SGU) School of Medicine in Grenada, the Caribbean, has announced that more than 930 of its students and graduates have secured residencies around the United States in the 2024 match cycle.
This marks the 10th consecutive year in which SGU has been the largest provider of new doctors to first-year US residencies. Notably, among these successful matches, more than 13% of the students are from the Middle East and North Africa region.

Dr. Marios Loukas, Dean of the St. George’s University School of Medicine said: “Match Day is a pivotal moment in a new doctor’s career. The entire St. George’s University community looks forward to this day, and together we congratulate this remarkable class of medical students on their success.”
SGU students and graduates matched into residencies in 22 specialties across 40 states and the District of Columbia. Graduates will begin residency programmes in several highly competitive specialties, ranging from urology and neurology to emergency medicine and pediatrics.
Justin Eadeh, MD, a 24 graduate speaking about his Match Day experience said: “The opportunity provided by SGU to undergo clinical rotations at hospitals provided invaluable hands-on experience and solidified my ability to compete on a national level. SGU played a pivotal role in preparing me for residency by instilling a mindset of perseverance and excellence. The rigorous curriculum and high standards demanded that I approach my studies holistically, leaving no room for shortcuts. However, it was the camaraderie and support of my peers that truly made the difference. Together, we formed a tight-knit community, pushing each other to excel and celebrating each other’s successes. This sense of unity and shared purpose undoubtedly contributed to my achievement.”
More than two-thirds of SGU graduates enter primary care specialties, and a significant number of SGU alumni work in medically underserved areas.
