Saudi Arabia is drafting legislation to change the country’s education regulations in order to entice the world’s best educational institutions to create branches in the Kingdom.

The Agency for Private University Education, on behalf of the Ministry of Education, is examining the executive and organizational provisions of the Private University Education Regulations. It intends to improve foreign investment opportunities in order to attract the world’s top institutions and make it easier for them to create branches in the Kingdom.

The activities are under the purview of the university system and will contribute to a strategic transformation in line with the goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

The total number of students enrolled in private colleges and universities in the Kingdom has reached 86,000


The extent of the expected returns on educational economic growth rates is reflected in the ministry’s activities.

According to the most recent figures issued by the ministry’s Statistics Center, the total number of students enrolled in private colleges and universities in the Kingdom has reached 86,000 in 15 institutions and 42 licensed private colleges. This includes nine non-profit institutions. There are 409 academic programs in all, which increase the odds of successful investment in this sector.
