According to International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) figures, 518 candidates from 12 Saudi Arabian schools took IBDP exams during the May 2023 test period, up from 464 students in 2022.
In 2023, the average IBDP score among Saudi students was 29.79, compared to the global average of 30.24. The average IBDP grade is 4.76, compared to 4.84 internationally. Students are graded on a scale of 7 to 1, with 7 being the highest for each subject. This compares with an average of 31.98 in 2022 when students returned to examinations following the Covid-19 pandemic, against 32.98 in 2021, when students received Teacher Assessed Grades.

Perhaps most noticeable this year is the significantly lower pass percentage than in 2022, as IB exam markers have graded to the boundaries from 2019. At 79.35%, nearly one in every five students will fail the Diploma this year, a rate that is 6% lower than in 2022. However, this is a greater pass rate than that of 2019, which was 77.4%.
The 12 schools in Saudi Arabia that offer the IB Diploma Programme are American International School Riyadh and American International School Jeddah, Advance Learning Schools, Al Faris International School, British International School Jeddah, German International School Jeddah, International Programs School, ISG Dhahran, ISG Jubail, Jeddah Knowledge International School, Khaled International School, King Faisal School, and The Kaust School
